About David Ongchoco

“Finding the Silver Lining in Every Step of the Journey” was started on January 23, 2013. At that time, I was a third-year high school student who was searching for my purpose in life.  I was confused as to why I did certain things, and I wanted to find something that I could be proud of.

Enter blogging. In search for answers, I read countless of websites, blogs and biographies, hoping to be inspired. And in all these stories I read, I realized that everyone has a story to tell. I’ve always been scared to step out of my comfort zone and let my voice be heard. But I realized that life is too short not to take risks and see the other side of the mountain.

I decided to make my mantra, “Do it Choco”, a reminder for me to make the most out of every opportunity I get because sometimes, the best experiences come out when we “just do it.”

This is my story. This is a story of an ordinary high school student who decided one day that he would live everyday like his last, and make the most out of every day he lived. This is the story of a teenager who wants to make his voice be heard, and make a difference in his community. This is a story of a boy who wants to inspire others to find the silver lining in every step of the journey.

Ever since I started this blog, I’ve gone through countless of new experiences where I’ve met people from different fields and backgrounds. I’ve faced challenges that have made me feel like the whole world was against me. Yet I was able to overcome these, and come out stronger than ever; I hope to share with you all the lessons I learned from all these experiences.

Today, I continue to explore new ventures and ways to make a difference in this vast world we live in. I’ve started WeDid Ventures, a for-purpose organization with a mission of inspiring the youth to craft their own opportunities and be catalysts for social change.

Seeing how powerful a medium blogging and writing can be, I’ve also started the Global Youth Journal (www.globalyouthjournal.com) in hopes of giving the youth an outlet for them to tell their story.

I firmly believe in the power of stories in inspiring dreams. I believe in the collective action of an inspired community. I believe that together, we can make this world a better place to live in.

Looking forward, there are still so many things for me to learn, and this is just the start of my journey and I’d like to invite you to go on your own journey, and find the silver lining in every step of the journey.

“Life is what you make it.”
