Daily Prompt

Have you got a code you live by? What are the principles or set of values you actively apply in your life?

In the past year, I’ve learned that having a set of principles and values that we constantly live by allows us to step out of our comfort zone and making the most out of every single day.

1. Carpe Diem – Seize the Day

We’re never really sure if we will have a tomorrow.  Anything can happen in the blink of the eye. This is a fact that I remind myself whenever I’m too scared to do something or too scared to approach someone. This is what I tell myself when I’m feeling lazy or when I don’t feel like doing anything at all. This is what I tell myself when I doubt whether or not an idea will work. Simply put, this motto is what allows me to make the most out of each day.

2. You never know until you try

Whenever we encounter something new, our subconscious tells us to stop and go the other way. We immediately think of the possible repercussions. We are scared by the fact that we might fail or waste our time. We research and ask the opinion of others whether or not it’s worth a shot. Yet I’ve come to realize that you’ll never really know what something is like unless you experience it yourself. You won’t know whether you like something or not unless you try it out.

3. Life is what you make it

A lot of times, we complain and complain and complain about our situation, what we have or what we don’t have. Yet we forget that life isn’t actually made for us. It’s up to us to make life what we want it to be. Sure there are numerous factors that we will never be able to control but what we can control is our outlook and how we choose to deal with our situation. It is our choice whether or not we make the most out of what we have.

4. Things happen for a reason

Things won’t always go our away yet somethings happen for a reason. Although, this principle may not always be true. Thinking this way will allow us to accept our circumstances faster and move on. Thinking this way will allow us to look beyond the surface and find the silver lining in our experiences. Thinking this way will allow us to turn our experiences into lessons we can apply in the future.

5. Life isn’t Perfect…..and we’re all human, we will make mistakes

No matter how smart we are or how talented we are, we will make mistakes. We will fail. We will have those bad days. And this is all because WE ARE ALL HUMAN. You can’t get too ahead of yourself because you will eventually make a mistake but doesn’t mean you can’t bounce back from it. So no matter how much we’ve achieved or how much money you have, you have to stay grounded and humble because you’re human and I’m also human.

6. Rome wasn’t built in a day….Success doesn’t come overnight

Everything worth something takes time, effort and hard work. Want to start a business? You have to invest not only money but time and effort in planning, fixing up the costs, networking, buying your raw product, and a lot of other little things. In anything and everything you do from studies to business to sports, if you want to be great, you have to put in the time. And this is something I’ve tried to live by as a student with a lot of big goals and dreams.

Conclusion

Life and all its imperfections is what makes life so entertaining, so vibrant and so exhilarating. Every single day is an adventure to face; another chance and opportunity to try something new, to seize the day. Things won’t always go our way but things do happen for a reason. And it’s ultimately up to us what we choose to make of it. It’s up to us how we decided to spend our time. And ultimately, life is what we make it.
